GHOST OF YOTSUYA (1959) - REMASTERED

Yotsuya Kaidan - The story of Oiwa and Tamiya Iemon, is a tale of betrayal, murder and ghostly revenge. Arguably the most famous Japanese ghost story of all time, it has been adapted for film over 30 times, and continues to be an influence on Japanese horror today.

From one of Japan's premier filmmakers comes the definitive version of the classic Ghost Of Yotsuya, a story told many times, but never before like this! This movie features Hasegawa Kazuo, the biggest star of that era as Tamiya Iemon, a direct retainer of the shogun who is fooled into believing that his wife was having an affair with their servant.

Forced into poverty by the strict rules of protocol that governed the samurai era, Iemon's realizes that it is almost impossible to attain status without having the means to bribe those with the power to make or break a career.

Things change when the beautiful daughter of a powerful retainer falls in love with Iemon after he rescues her from a terrible fate.
However, fate is a fickle thing that may come back with tragic results. The tension builds to breaking point in this magnificent version of the classic tale based on the renowned Kabuki by Chikamatsu Monzaemon.

Superb special effects and terrific swordplay make this film a must see!
