era as Tamiya Iemon, a direct retainer of the shogun who is fooled into
believing that his wife was having an affair with their servant.
Forced into poverty by the strict rules of protocol that
governed the samurai era, Iemon's realizes that it is almost impossible to
attain status without having the means to bribe those with the power to make or
break a career.
Things change when the beautiful daughter of a powerful retainer falls in love with Iemon after he rescues her from a terrible fate.
