Akai hankachi - One of Japan’s most popular films of 1964, Red Handkerchief was a career landmark for both superstar Yujiro Ishihara and director Toshio Masuda.
In this “mood action” thriller, big-shot cop Mikami fatally shoots a witness during a drug investigation. He flees to the countryside and evades his tainted past for several years, only to return to find the woman he loved married to his former partner. He searches for answers to unravel the truth about the unsolved case and his shady ex-partner, knowing that his inevitable doomed fate is more or less sealed.
