Juzo Itami - A TAXING WOMAN'S RETURN (1988) - REMASTERED
Marusa no onna 2 - Nominated for 5
Japanese Academy Awards - Ryoko returns as the government tax agent willing to
tackle the toughest cases. This time she takes on a fanatical but lucrative
religious cult run by a vile lecher.
Juzo Itami's sequel to his popular 'A Taxing Woman' has energy to spare with enough sex, skullduggery, intrigue, and action to fuel any three James Bond thrillers. Even funnier than the original it takes on the corruption of politicians, religious organizations and the yakuza.
Ryoko is on to a case concerning a religious organization, she's after Onizawa, the Chief Elder of one of the country's 180,000 registered religions. Onizawa prays for the souls of the sick and the dead with one hand and rakes in billions of yen with the other. His cult, Heaven's Path, has its fingers in several rice bowls, including a huge land scheme involving political graft.
Trying to prove that Onizawa is not paying his fair share of taxes she enters the religious organization in question as one of its members and finds out that its headquarters has a hidden room containing evidence of corruption, but she gets herself in trouble by working outside the rules.
Director: Juzo Itami - Writer: Juzo Itami
Stars: Nobuko Miyamoto, Rentaro Mikuni and Masahiko Tsugawa
1988 - JAPANESE with OPTIONAL ENGLISH SUBTITLES - COLOR – FULL SCREEN - 127 MINUTES
