Based on a book by Ozaki Shiro about a yakuza's honor, duty and loyalty,
'Theater of Life' was done as a pair of films and released to an unexpectedly
large commercial success. They were to have a major impact on the idealized
ninkyo-eiga that reached a peak of popularity in the mid-1960s.
Serving his prison time after the events of the first movie, Hishakaku discovers that Otoyo is working as a prostitute in Manchuria. He travels to China to save the woman he still loves, only to get involved in a battle he can never win
