This is a film about a real person, Sanada Yukimura, who fought a war against Tokugawa Ieyeasu. In the beginning the film shows Yukimura fighting to defend Osaka Castle and his use of very unconventional methods, which were not approved of by the other defenders.
With the Osaka Campaign lost, the Tokugawa Shogunate had begun, but the shadow of Hideyoshi Toyotomi kept threatening Ieyasu's eyes as he looked to get rid of his enemies and appoint as successor his son, Hidetada. Meanwhile, General Sanada, seeking revenge for the murder of his father and the lost battle of Osaka Castle devises a series of brilliant plans to thwart the Shogun's overwhelming strength.
The Sanada clan form a group of the best ninjas in the country with a single mission: Assassinate Shogun Ieyeasu. There are several attempts one more interesting than the other. There is also magic ( Ninja employed by Sanada). The final battle explodes into death-defying action with the out-come determining the destiny of Japan.
