WOLVES, PIGS AND MEN (1964) - REMASTERED

Okami to buta to ningen - one of the grittiest, angriest yakuza films ever made in Japan. A finely crafted gangster film about three brothers, each with his own relationship to a powerful crime syndicate, and a heist the middle brother plans on that syndicate.

One of the first yakuza films by Fukasaku to receive critical acclaim. Legendary tough guy Ken Takakura plays a lone-wolf hood who convinces his younger sibling (Kinya Kitaoji) to join his youth gang to help rob elder brother Rentaro Mikuni's mob. Fukasaku's gritty noir-tragedy moves like a runaway freight train. A gripping if relentlessly downbeat tale of crime, double-crossing and multiple torture sessions, all underscored by a strong subtext about Japan's poorest areas.
