Offered is a Constantine The Great 306 -337 AD Roman Coin. Constantine was the son of Constantius I and St. Helen. Upon his father's death in York in 306, Constantine was proclaimed Emperor by the legions in England. The other members of the tetrarchy were upset by this and persuaded Constantine to take the title of Caesar instead. In 312, before the battle of Milvian Bridge, Constantine had a vision telling him to trust the Christian God. After the victory, Constantine ended the persecution of Christians and made Christianity the state religion. In 324 Constantine defeated his rival, Licinius, and became the sole Emperor.
