19th Century Continental Candelabrum Aesthetic Style
A pair of cast brass candelabra from 1850-70's by an unknown maker. The large elaborate solid cast brass candelabra is done in an exuberant 19th century "Eclectic" taste.
The very ornate and finely cast three-light Continental candelabra is replete with Classical Greco-Roman symbolism, every inch covered in fine detail.
The finial features a stork clutching a coiling snake while standing atop a turtle. The ivy and floral decorated shaft rests on a tripod of bird legs with their talons grasping turtles. An owl stands surrounded by Classical Greek masks.
Each candelabra is 20" tall from base to top of finial and is 7" across from candle cup to cup. The candle cups have brass bobeche. The only markings noted on either candelabra are a stamped inventory number in the bobeche 5275 and a number cast in the bottom of the candelabra's base.
The candelabrum are in very good condition with sharp clear detail noted. Both candelabra appear slightly out of true and each are missing a bobeche. The candelabrum have been professionally cleaned and polished and do not have their original patina.
