Chessie Cat & More
Chessie--the creation of G. Gruenwald, a gifted Vienese artist, was first used by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in the fall of 1933. Seeking a symbol to indicate the quiet restfulness of its air conditioned trains. Chesabeake and Ohio adopted the now famous Chessie and used it to invite travelers everywhere to "Sleep like a kittten" on its railroad.
A small folio with a group of 3 prints made to advertise the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. The folio includes:
Chessie Cat (Company's logo)
Chessie and Kittens
Peake...Chessie's Old Man
each print is printed on 10" x 11 1/2" fine laid paper stock with large 8" x 9 3/4" images.
The prints are in good condition with some yellowing evident from age and light dog earring at the corners. Folio is soiled and dog earred and there are pencil marks on inside.
