and a real pleasure to collect or still use. The very exceptional and unique item in this listing, has the following characteristics:
This is a 5 decade Catholic Rosary of French origin dating from the early days of the 20th century.
It is very plain and quite impressive with large MOP capped beads of 11 mm diameter for the Pater beads and 9 mm for the Aves.
It has a very attractive and beautiful large Sterling cross of 80 x 40 mm ( 3.2 x 1.6 in.) . It is striking by its simplicity and yet great presence.
The center also in MOP is quite larger than the centers to which we are accustomed. The chain is quite thick and sturdy.
There is a name carved on the cross : V. Vandevelde -
Length of the rosary is 68 cm or 27.2 inches and weight is a heavy 75 grams.
The rosary will easily go over any size head to be worn with a fantastic effet.
This is a perfect item and its rarity rests in its perfect carving and rare large cross. Such items are pratically not seen anymore
This is an awesome heirloom.
