Antique Hand-Stitched Crazy Patch Quilt depicting 7 U.S. Navy ship names, some of the ships dating back to the civil war along with beautiful poetry blocks. This particular quilt has been shown at several Quilt shows.
It is truly a superb piece of antique textile quilting art and a beautiful collector’s item. Great time to own this with the 125th year Anniversary of the Civil War.
It is all hand stitched and made up of a variety of colorful silk and velvet dress fabrics and various textile remnants. This extravagantly embellished crazy quilt patch has exceptional needle work done around each fabric patch in a variety of colorful stitches.
It has a burgundy polished cotton backing.
Measures approx: 66” x 66”
This belonged to a friend’s Grandmother to whom it was given to by a dear old friend of hers. We estimate it to be at least 55 years old, if not older. Possibly dating back to the 1930’s or 1940’s.
This quilt top needs some minor restoration; there are several areas on the quilt where the material is breaking down. There are a few loose threads and a couple of water stains. The back the quilt has a couple small areas where the fabric broke down or has small tears. But keep in mind it is an antique.
There have been no repairs or alterations since most buyers of antiques prefer to receive them as original as possible.
