Her Privates We has long been recognized by many critics as being perhaps the greatest single account of trench warfare on the Western front in the First World War. It is truly the English equivalent of the German- All Is Quiet On The Western Front and the French- Under Fire. No single book about the First World War has ever depicted more vividly the fantastic bloodbath of the tragic stalemate along the Western Front.
