Kashan-IRAN This is an original Persian Kashan rug of 1960's in excellent condition, full pile, clean, no problem at all. Kashan is a historic center for textile production including carpets. Rugs produced in this region are famous for their fine quality and are important throughout the world. The weavers of Kashan rugs are considered city weavers and are professionally apprenticed. The rugs are typically woven with fine wool on pile, knotted with the Persian asymmetrical knot. It can take a weaver months or years to produce a fine quality Kashan carpet. They are known for their durability and longevity. Fine antique examples of Kashan rugs are found in museums dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Although the Kashan rugs have usually traditional floral designs, they are easy to decorate with any kind of nontraditional settings as well. The appearance of a Kashan rug is enhanced with age. It is sure to be passed on through generations as a family treasure.
