How to Change Dome Lights: 

• Inspect the dome light lens before attempting to remove it. Most covers have four small retaining tabs the hold the lens in place. On older models, there may be retaining screws that need to be removed with a Phillips screwdriver. If screws are present, remove them with the screwdriver
• Place the small slotted screwdriver into the gap between the lens and the dome light housing. Gently pry the lens to one side and look up into the gap to determine if the tabs are present on the side of the lens you chose. If not, reposition the screwdriver on another side until you locate the tabs. The tabs are usually located on two of the four sides of a dome light lens
• Pry one of the tab sides of the lens carefully away from the dome light housing using the screwdriver. The dome light lens usually has some flexibility to it, but you can easily crack or damage the lens or the tabs
• Use the screwdriver as a leverage point and once the tabs on one side of the lens are exposed, pry the lens downward with the screwdriver. This will release the tabs on the side of the screwdriver, the lens will drop down and release the other retaining tabs on the opposite side. Remove the lens
• Remove the bulbs from the sockets. There are a variety of different bulbs used for interior lighting. Some bulbs may require turning to extract them from the socket, while others may simply need to be popped out of the retaining clips
• Insert the replacement bulb(s) and test before replacing the lens
• Replace the lens by inserting the retaining tabs on one side and using the screwdriver to pry it into position carefully

Install Interior Car Lights:

• Open up the dome light cover. With older cars just twist the cover until it releases; on newer cars you need to remove several screws
• Pull out the old bulb with your fingers and compare it to the new bulb
• Press the new bulb into the socket. Use a lint-free cloth as the oils in your hands can make the bulb burn out prematurely
• Put the light cover back on
• Turn the light on to make sure it's working

Change a Dome Light Bulb:

• Turn the dome light to the "Off" position. In most vehicles, the "Off" position is the middle of the three options on the switch. Refer to your owner's manual for the exact location
• Remove the bulb lens cover. Depending on the vehicle, you may have to remove two screws holding the lens in place with a screwdriver. If no screws are present, pry the lens off with a flat head screwdriver. Place the screwdriver opposite the light switch and press in. The lens cover should pop off, giving you access to the bulb
• Unscrew the light bulb from the dome socket. Discard the old bulb. Screw a new bulb into the dome socket until the bulb is tight and secured
• Replace the lens cover then push on it to snap it in place or use the screwdriver to secure the screws
