How to Do Card Magic Tricks:

Card magic tricks are undoubtedly the most popular tricks used by both amateur and professional magicians. If you have a pack of cards, then you can begin astounding your friends, and perhaps audiences, with your sleight of hand.

Instructions:

Learn the False Pass

• Locate a card chosen by an audience member by making a false pass to create the illusion of shuffling a deck of cards. Begin by separating the deck of face-down cards into 2 piles
• Offer the lower half (in your right hand) to the audience member and ask him to replace his card in the deck. Place the upper half once again on top of the lower half, but bend your left little finger in such a way that it barely holds the spot under where the card is located
• Split the cards once again at the spot you have marked with your finger. Slide your finger over the cards of the lower portion so they are on edge
• Shuffle the cards by using your thumb to release several cards at a time from your right hand into various places in the stack in your left hand
• Shuffle all of the cards in your right hand into the stack on your left until the chosen card is on the top of the stack. You may do further shuffling by only removing and shuffling the middle cards in the stack, without disturbing the top card

Know the Secret Card

• Prepare to do this trick by first secretly looking at the top card in your deck of cards
• Deal a selected number of cards (which will make the original top card the bottom card of the dealt stack) to an audience member, telling her that she may count off as many cards as she wants onto the table. The secret card will be the one that is on the top of the stack when she stops counting out the cards. Tell her to look at this card and remember what it is
• Turn back around and tell her to replace the remainder of the dealt cards on the top of the pile of cards
• Take the pack of cards and flip through them. The card beneath the original top card is the one that was chosen by the audience member
