How to Use an XBox 360 Headset:

• Purchase a Gold Xbox Live subscription. While the headset is included with your Xbox 360 at no additional cost, you will have to pay to be able to use it. A Gold-level subscription to Xbox Live is available for an annual fee, and will allow users to engage in online gaming and voice chat with other players using the headset. A broadband Internet connection is required for this service
• Connect your headset to your Xbox 360 controller. After powering up your console, plug in your headset. On the controller facing the player, you will see three small holes above the battery pack. Your headset, and only the Xbox 360-approved headset, will fit snugly into these holes
• Learn how to use the mute control. The headset has one button on its base. The button can be slid from left to right to allow you to mute your headset's microphone. When you slide the button to the left, your microphone will be turned off. You will still be able to hear other players through your headset, but they will not be able to hear you speak. By sliding the button back to the right, you can enable the use of your microphone, allowing fellow gamers to hear you once again
• Learn how to use the volume control. Underneath the mute button is a knob that controls the volume of the headset's earpiece. Turning this knob to the left lowers your earpiece volume, while turning to the right will make the earpiece louder
• Start chatting. Any game that allows online "player vs. player" gaming through Xbox Live also allows for player chat through the headset. Use of the headset can be different from game to game, however. While some games allow players to constantly speak with one another without pressing any buttons, some game modes do not. Consult the manual to a specific game for further instructions on using your headset
