How to Use PS3 Component Cables on PS2s:
The Sony PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 feature several different A/V connection options, designed to accommodate the needs of the user. Both systems include a proprietary SCART A/V cable that features a single composite RCA video connector and two analog audio connectors. Sony, along with several other after-market manufacturers, offer component video SCART cables intended for use with the PS3 and PS2. Although the PS3 succeeds the PS2 in regards to features and performance, the proprietary SCART cables available for both systems are interchangeable. Instructions:
- Turn off the PS2 game system and the television
- Disconnect the original composite SCART connector from the rear of the PS2
- Disconnect the original SCART cable's RCA connections from the rear of the television
- Connect the component SCART cable connector to the rear of the PS2
- Connect the red/orange, blue and green SCART video cables to the corresponding "Component Video In" ports found at the rear of the television
- Connect the remaining white and red analog audio cables to the "Audio In" ports, located next to the video input connections used for the PS2. Be careful not to connect the red/orange-colored video cable to the red audio port; the correct red audio connector resides next to the white audio connector
- Turn on the television and select the input source for the PS2. Turn on the PS2 to test the audio and video connections
