How to Repair a PS2 Dual Shock ControllerIf the buttons on your PS2 dual shock controller have begun to stick or aren't functioning at all, you can do one of two things: junk it and buy a new controller or fix it yourself. The first option costs money, the second doesn't. Even if you aren't particularly tech savvy, you'll find that the process of opening up your PS2 controller and fixing the internal components is a quick process that is relatively straightforward. 1Unplug your PS2 controller from its port in the front of the system and turn the controller over. 2Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws located on the sides of the back of the controller. Set the screws aside. 3Lift the back half of the controller off of the front and set it aside. The circuit board will now be exposed in the front half of the controller. 4Lift the circuit board out of the controller and set it aside. The backs of the buttons and joysticks will now be visible in the controller. 5Remove the rubber pads from behind the actual plastic buttons and place a very small, fingertip-sized ball of tissue paper in the hole in the back of any buttons that have been giving you problems. This will help with the button sensor so the button is always recognized and will work on the rear of any button in the controller.
