Nintendo DS Styles:

The Nintendo DS is a popular hand held gaming system because the games interest all demographics, from younger children to adults. Over the years, this device has morphed into a variety of models that range in color, size and features. As technology has improved, Nintendo included such features as 3-D game play in this portable device.

• Ninendo DS and DS Lite: The original DS was launched in 2004 as the first hand held console with a touch screen, and the DS Lite is the slimmer version of the DS system. The larger, original model measured 5.85 x 3.33 x 1.13inches, while the DS Lite is 5.24 x 2.91 x 0.85 inches. Both systems have a touch screen on the bottom with a basic non-touch screen on top. A stylus is used to play on the touch screen. These models are the only Nintendo DS consoles that can also play Game Boy Advance cartridges
• DSi: Though the models appear similar in size and shape, the DSi is a more advanced version of the DS Lite. Its new features include a camera on the front that captures sound as well as pictures. When you take pictures on your DSi, you can upload these images directly to Flipnote Studio Animation to edit on your computer or to share with family and friends. With DSiWare, you can download games and content directly to the hand held system. The DSi can also surf the Internet using the DSi Browser
• DSi XL: The DSi XL was released in 2010. This model is similar to the DSi, but has a larger screen that is easier to read and play on. In comparison, the DSi XL screen is 4.2 inches diagonal, while the DS Lite and DSi have 3.25-inch screen. The DSi XL features pre-programmed software and has an additional stylus that is similar to a full-sized pen for extra comfort
• 3DS: Nintendo 3DS is the future of the DS and is set for a March 27, 2011 release. This system has the same features as the DSi, but with a 3-D screen on top. You can adjust the depth of the 3-D on the side, or turn it off completely if you want. This system also has the ability to set to "Street Pass." This means when you pass others with or using the DS, the units communicate with each other for game play or score comparisons.
