How to Use an iPod Touch Dock Adapter?

An iPod Touch can be a fun and useful device for music playback, games and surfing the web, but you will need to constantly charge the device. If you want ease of use, you should charge your iPod Touch by using an iPod dock. Using a dock to charge your iPod Touch will require an iPod Touch adapter; fortunately, hooking up this accessory is quick, easy and painless

Instructions:

• Locate the proper dock adapter. There are a number of different dock adapters for each kind of iPod and the iPhone. A small number on the dock connector indicates if the dock adapter is the proper one for your device. For the iPod Touch, you will need a dock adapter that is numbered 13. If you lack a dock adapter, you can purchase one at the Apple Store or online (see Resources). Never use a dock adapter for another iPod device, as it will not fit correctly and may damage your dock device
• Place the dock adapter directly into and over the top of the iPod dock. The docking plug will go through the open slot in the dock adapter. Make sure this is carefully aligned. If it is not aligned correctly, you may damage your dock by trying to force the adapter in
• Plug the dock into a power source, whether it be a wall socket, surge protector or some other convenient location
• Plug the iPod Touch into the dock. With the adapter properly in place, it will function the same as a dock without an adapter. The opening for the dock is at the bottom middle of the iPod Touch. The front of the dock faces outward. To locate the front of the dock, simply look for the IR (infrared receiver) at the bottom middle of the iPod Touch dock
• To remove the iPod Touch from the dock adapter, use your fingernail and gently glide it out, disengaging the dock plug. Then, to set the dock back to normal, just slide off the iPod Touch dock adapter, the same way it went in. Store it in a safe place while it is not in use, as it is a relatively small plastic object and can easily be misplaced
