How to  Protect the Charger:





Proper installation of your fence charger is the key when it comes to protecting the charger. Install it in the wrong way, in the wrong place and with the wrong wire and you can expect trouble. Fence chargers are fairly simple to install and operate but specific guidelines must be adhered to if the fence charger is to remain working without any problems.

• Install the fence charger in a location where it's protected from the elements. Make sure the electrical connections at the fence controller box are free of moisture
• Drive three six-foot copper rods or galvanized metal rods into the ground within 20 feet of the fence charger. Space the rods 10 feet apart and try to drive them into ground that is constantly moist Each rod should have a clamp on it. Run 10- to 14-gauge wire from the fence charger's ground to the rods. Make sure when clamping the wire to the rod that the clamp bites into the rod and the wire
• Do not run more than one electric fence charger on one fence line at a time. The short electric pulses each charger sends out will be too close together and will end up damaging both fence chargers
• Make sure that the fence charger is large enough to handle the job. If the fence charger is under-powered and it rains, snows, vegetation grows up and touches the electric fence wire or rusty wire is used for the fence, all this will put drag on the fence charger
• Use proper insulated wire for the electrified fence;10- to 14-gauge wire that is insulated to 20,000 volts
• Make sure that wire connections are tight and strong with regard to grounding wire connections, splices of fence wire, jumper wires--a wire that runs between two parallel electric fence wires and lead out wire--the wire carrying the charge from the fence charger to the fence 

Instructions:
