How to Use a Remote App for an iPod:

The iPod Touch is not only used primarily for music, data and photo storage; the 3.1 software update allows you to download applications directly from the App store onto your device. Of the many applications, the Mobile Air Mouse is an application that allows you to use your iPod Touch as a remote control for your laptop. As of December 2009, the application cost $1.99

• Press the "Home" button on your iPod Touch. Slide your finger against the screen to unlock the device. Tap the "Settings" button on the screen, and tap the "Wi-Fi" tab on your screen. Slide your finger across the button to the far right on the tab so that it reads "ON"
• Tap an existing network. Enter the password if the network requires it, and tap the "Join" button located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. For a different network, tap the "Other..." tab and type in the name of the network. Tap the "Security" tab and select the type of security network
• Tap the "Other Network" button at the top of the screen, followed by tapping the blank field next to the "Password" tab. Type in the network password, and tap the "Join" button. The Wi-Fi signal will appear at the top of the screen when it successfully connects
• Tap the "App Store" icon. Tap the "Search" button located at the bottom of the screen, and type "Air Mouse" in the search field. Tap the search result, and tap the "$1.99" button, and tap "BUY" to purchase the application
• Visit the program's website to download the application. Your laptop will need to have the Mobile Air Mouse application installed and running before you run the application on your device. Download and install the application, followed by double-clicking the application to run it
• Tap the Air Mouse app on your iPod Touch. Move your finger across the iPod Touch screen to move the mouse cursor on your laptop. The left and right click buttons are located at the bottom of the screen
• Turn your iPod Touch horizontally to change the layout of the mouse. Shake your phone to bring up the keyboard, which acts as a remote keyboard. Press the down arrow on the far right of the keyboard screen to bring up iTunes, Internet browser and function buttons
