How to Install a Battery in an RC Helicopter
The weight of your remote-control helicopter is an important factor if you're planning to install a battery in your helicopter. Many RC enthusiasts choose a lithium polymer battery as their optimal RC battery. A lithium polymer battery produces treble the energy you get from a nickel battery and lasts longer between charges. Installing a battery in your helicopter is generally a relatively straightforward procedure, as the wired connections just plug together. - Open the battery-access panel near the front of your RC helicopter. Position your battery into the small battery compartment, making sure the wires from the battery are easily accessible.
- Use a few strips of clear adhesive tape to hold the battery in place. This keeps it from moving around during a flight.
- Locate the electronic speed controller. It is usually centrally placed and effectively connects the motor, receiver, switch and battery together. There are two loose wires extending from the ESC with a dual connector on the end; the other wires from the ESC are connected to the other equipment.
- Insert the red wire from the battery into the terminal connector from the ESC that has the red wire attached. Insert the black wire from the battery to the terminal connector from the ESC that has a black wire connected. Simply push the wires into the connector using your fingers. Close the battery-access panel on your helicopter.
Caution: - Must read charging instructions before use
- Do not charge battery unattended
- Use specified charger only
- May explode if damaged or disposed of in fire
- Do not short-circut
