Auction is for a fabulous BEER STEIN, Celebrating the famous German Festival of OKTOBERFEST (Octoberfest), in Hamburg, the 2nd-largest City in Germany. This fabulous Porcelain/Ceramic/Pottery Beer Stein, is made to appear like stone. It has a creamy yellow background, speckled in black. It reminds one of butter milk, with pepper sprinkled in it! The Lesser Coat of Arms, of Hamburg, appears on the front of the vessel, adorned by Royal Military Plumage, Headgear from suits of chain mail armor / medieval helmets and flowing fabric ribbons. The colours of the artwork appear in Black, Grey, Yellow Blue & Red. Underneath, appear the words "Hamburg BUNDESLAND • Seit 1952" (which translates, loosely, as "Federal state since 1952" - the word Bundesländ refers, colloquially, to the concept of a Federal State.
This Art Pottery Beer Stein was manufactured in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina, by Olaff Ceramicas. It is hallmarked on the bottom and the name of the Argentine town, appears in both tiny block letters, on the front of the Stein, underneath the word "Oktoberfest" and, on the back, in Newspaper Script. This Beer Stein is so stunning, it takes the cake (er, beer)!!!!
This Stein is in New, as in never used condition. It stands about 4 & 3/4 inches tall. It would look great on any Bar, or in any German, or Pottery/Ceramic Collection. More pictures are available, via email.
