"CHICO'S PARADISE" Auctions Auction is for a Pair of REPLICA DISPLAY (toy) HANDGUNS. This pair are fashioned from Wood, Metal (possibly some Cast Iron) and Brass. They are only Display-type Models and are not exact copies, since they are not complete (i.e. - the barrels are only bored about 1/2 inch deep and then have a tiny air channel beyond that) and do not have the functionality, nor capacity, for actual use (as their original counter-parts would have had).   One Gun is fashioned in the shape of an Antique, Double-Barrelled, Snub-Nosed Derringer. The other is reminiscent of a Double-Barrelled Revolver. The Derringer has a single striker, while the Revolver has two. They have been nicely finished. The Derringer has a Brass plate wrapped around the end of the hardware and barrel. It even has a curly-queue pattern on the Metal/Cast Iron casing. The Derringer has the but-end of the furniture finished with flat gold paint. The barrels on both, have been finished off with, what appears to be plastic/rubber barrel tips, to prevent scratches. Since the bolt-action pins and triggers work on both, they would be fun for use with Caps, which could be placed on the striker pads. The wood is solid and all the screws match the Metal/Cast Iron of the casings. They are a really great representation of weapons from a by-gone era! Most collectors would likely want to put them on display, rather than press them into use as toys. As hand-made collectibles, they would be great conversation starters!   The Derringer measures, approximately, 9" in length. The Revolver is about 12 & 1/2" in length [see photo].
