1957 "The Big Help Yourself Book", planned by Gladys M. Horn, drawings by Bonnie & Bill Rutherford, published by Whitman, 192 pages.
This is like a huge coloring & activity book, only it is meant to be part of an educational tool.
The basic school subjects: reading, arithmetic, phonics, spelling, & writing are combined in units based on the interests, experiences, & vocabulary of children.
Easy to do activities & easy to read stories, each unit begins with a short story to be read by the child. The other subjects grow out of the stories in a natural, related way.
The cover is loose from the book, & several of the projects & activities have been filled in, but there are many that haven't been, & the book is in pretty good condition for it's age. Pages have yellowed, but they aren't torn. The heavy paper cover is showing it's age with wear at the spine & edges.
Wonderful rainy day book during summer vacation.
I will ship this book USPS Media for $3.00, which includes Delivery Confirmation or I will be happy to combine shipping with any of my other books or other listings.
I have other children's books & old textbooks listed in my store.
