Beautiful vintage Made In Japan tea pot with 3 cups & saucers all featuring hand painted long stemmed red roses & deep green leaves accented with gold outlines. The roses are on one side of the tea pot & cups & at one side of the saucers. The tea pot measures 7" to the top of the knob x 2 1/2" across the top opening. It holds 2 cups. I don't think the lid is the original as under a halogen light it is a little bit different white than the tea pot & it has a small chip on the rim. The original lid was probably broken & replaced with this one. The tea pot has a gold scalloped rim on the top & a narrow band of gold down the fancy handle. The graceful spout also has a narrow band of gold on each side, but it is worn off on the back side. The bottom of the tea pot is scalloped & it has a built in music box which plays an absolutely beautiful song. I just can't place the song. It sounds quite a bit like Jackie De Shannon's "What the World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love" but it isn't. The 3 saucers measure 4 1/2". The 3 tea cups are tiny & measure 2 1/4" tall x 2 1/2" wide & hold 2 oz. Other than the small chip on the edge of the lid this set has no chips or cracks & is immaculately clean. This would make a gorgeous display set as well as serving special guests.
