W-W GRINDER CORP.WICHITA 3.5 HP MULCHER BRIGGS/STRATTON
Price: $299.99
Description:
Since we are no longer doing much gardening, my husband says it's time to let his beloved mulcher go.
He bought this new somewhere between 1962 & 1963, not sure just when.
This is a W-W Grinder Corp., Wichita, Kansas mulcher. It is not a wood chipper or shredder. This is strictly for garden-type vegetation.
It is Model # 62-G & Serial # 691774.
It has a Briggs & Stratton engine that he is pretty sure is 3.5 HP, but that side of the label is worn off. The engine has a patent # of 2999491, which puts it at 1962.
It is for mulching your dried garden vegetation, corn stalks, sunflowers, tomato vines, etc., anything that is completely dry & you want to use on your compost pile. This is the one he's used for all of these years.
It's tough & dependable, may look a little rugged now, but these things work hard & it's hard to keep them clean & shiny.
It's been stored inside our shop for all of it's life.
It measures 45" tall x 39" wide x 30" from front to back.
The chute measures 38" long x 16" wide x 13" deep.
It has 2 back rubber tires that are 10" x 2" & spaced 28" apart.
You just use the handle (sort of like a shopping cart only curved) to tip it back on it's wheels & wheel it right out to the garden next to where you are storing your compost. Then you start the engine with the rope pull & start feeding it.
It has 4 rows of 7 blades & they are all in just great shape. There is a screen under the blades to sift the material, the rest goes out the front.
He's never had a bit of trouble with it except when he put something too wet into it. Then it will plug up & you'll have to shut it down & clean it out, so you want to make sure what you put into it is completely dry. This is the time of year he's always used it right out in the garden, from now through October.
The engine starts easily & is extremely dependable.
This is an extremely well made & sturdy machine & they probably don't make 'em like this anymore.
Due to it's weight, approximately 200 to 300 lbs., we are requesting local pick up only.
Please feel free to E Mail me with any questions or more pix & I will do my best.
