This compelling Modern Abstract is an original 1960s oil on canvas by the extremely talented and LISTED Japanese/American artist, Masataka Kubota (1945-?). Boldly red and white, the organic shapes flow with motion and possess an ephemeral quality found only in Nature. The focal point in the painting is the central lightest shape from which others extend into all other parts of the composition. Reminiscent of French Cubist painters, there is a geometric break - resembling a grid structure - in the piece, creating a sense of order in the abstraction. Painted in thick oil paints, Kubota used the palette knife as well as brushes to produce the shapes. Every element in the painting is intentional and significant and it is his ingenuity in utilizing composition and color which makes Kubota so appreciated and well known worldwide. This is a wonderful choice for novice and experienced buyers alike who are looking to add an exemplary modern painting to their collection!
