This stein was purchased in Germany by my grandparents back in the early 70's, so I know it's German. It has a saying on it in German: "Farewell Jager." It has been well cared for and has no chips or damage, as shown in the images. The lid is a little loose. I guess the pewter is a little on the soft side. I think it's an easy fix.
