Only as the Wind Blows is a collection of ten short stories which deal mainly with the growing up experiences of the author, Basil Lopez. The author, however, tires to reconstruct these experiences not solely on a personalized basis, but also in a context of a construct which may for instance ask the question, why do so many of us migrate? So some of the stories may be set in Miami or New York Always, however, there is a concern with West Indian matters and what is it that makes us a people. Flashes of humour permeate many of the stories as well as frequent use of the Jamaican language.
