A few times previously during the selling off of this very large and varied inventory, I've come across German wood recorders. Its been my experience that recorder players more often then not are as knowledgeable about recorders as any dealer - many times much more so. I first discovered the Roessler recorders packaged with the name "Ideal" and it was my mom who informed me that my dad had Heinz Röessler from his workshop Roessler-Recorder Manufacturing situated in Weddingstedt near Heide (Schleswig-Holstein) make them for Ideal. This last week during a visit to our warehouse where there are still hundreds and hundreds of cartons and crates filled with all sorts of items, I found Röessler recorders in their own boxes and stamped on the instruments themselves (as shown)

Röessler passed away in 2001 and his workshop no longer exists so having an opportunity to buy a new original Roessler is quite unusual and odds are not very good that it will come up again.
