Manchester Silver Co. Sterling Silver Baby Cup Pattern #885

This Sterling Silver baby cup is as we found it. It has Patina on it but other wise in great shape.It has 2 real small dents right at bottom edge. I had to use magnifying glass to see 1 of them. This cup will polish out really good. We leave as is because some people like it that way. The bottom of cup has the Crown and Cross trademark of Manchester Silver Co ( See Picture) Under the trademark it says sterling and under that 885 which is the pattern number. I could not get definite date, but believe it to be early 50's. (Don't hold me to that) Just my guess. To my knowledge this pattern has been out of production for a long time.

Founded in 1887 under the name W.H. Manchester & Co, changed to Manchester Mfg.Co in 1904. In 1985 was sold to J.C.Boardman Co. According to a 1929 catalogue they were manufacturers of sterling flatware and hollowware. On a 1950 brochure, the instructions, "Remember If It's Manchester It's Sterling," appear on the front page.

This cup measures 1 1/2 inches tall and 2 inches across top. The weight according to my food scale is 33 grams.
