Book Description
The TV series based on Charlaine Harris’
bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels are now showing on the Showcase
channel.
This series had me laughing out loud. Sookie
is a charming character to follow, full of foibles and witticisms about
the constant vampire strife she finds herself in. She also has the
handy knack of reading minds, especially useful when meeting the range
of weird and wonderful creatures that seem to waltz through her life.
Sookie's life as a waitress in small-town Louisiana coexists with
vampires, since the invention of synthetic blood in Japan, and one in
particular whom Sookie finds hard to resist. Sookie's naughty thoughts,
interspersed with musings on her predicaments, make this a hilarious
little roller-coaster of a series.
Front and centre of the story is Sookie (Anna Paquin), a cafe waitress
who has telepathic abilities. Serving unfriendly customers who are
always longing to grope her is a daily chore. Working alongside her are
bartender Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), a gay cook
who turns tricks for money.
When Sookie meets Bill (Stephen Moyer), a handsome 173-year-old vampire,
she is drawn to his magnetism and intrigued by the fact she cannot hear
his thoughts. These two misfits are a match made outside heaven. “You
can never find a human man you can be yourself with,” he insists.
Australian Ryan Kwanten (Home & Away, Summerland) plays Sookie’s
brother Jason, a road worker and horny bad boy who finds himself the
number one suspect in a murder case. Someone is killing young women and
they’re usually his recent conquests. With a ripped bod and rabid naked
scenes, Kwanten is sex on a stick.

This review is from: Sookie Stackhouse 8-copy Boxed Set (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood) (Paperback)
The Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris is truly one of the
GREATEST book series I have EVER read (and I read a lot!). Each book is
fast paced, clever, full of action, and more action, mysteries galore,
love, romance, some sexy scenes (hee hee), and wit, humor, and sass! I
got through this series very quickly because I truly could not put the
books down. I would try and try to stop so that I could "save some
reading for later", but I was just so addicted to the series and was
always left wanting more by the numerous cliff hangers that I could NOT
stop!
The Sookie Stackhouse novels are set in present times in a world
where synthetic blood is created and perfected. Because of the synthetic
bloods creation, it turns out that vampires are actually real, and they
now feel that they can "come out of the coffin" and reveal themselves
since they no longer need to be feared by humans (because they can just
drink synthetic blood in stead of hunting humans). These books are a
great escape that are written very well, I highly, highly recommend
it!!!
P.S. I actually bought the OTHER box set which has only the first 7
books, this one has the newest in paperback From Dead To Worse, but this
one obviously is better because you won't have to run to the store once
you're on book 7 to get book 8 like I did!
