In many clinical situations, insufficient bone volume is a critical limiting factor for dental implant placement and successful osseointegration.

Surgical procedures to compensate for this tissue deficiency—such as lateral window sinus augmentation, transcrestal sinus elevation, guided bone ridge augmentation procedures—have proven to be successful in providing sufficient bone quantity and quality for implant placement and prosthetic support. These procedures, however, prolong the time to final restoration, increase surgical involvement, increase morbidity, and substantially increase treatment expense.

Short dental implants have been proposed as a simpler, cheaper, and faster alternative for the rehabilitation of atrophic edentulous areas to avoid the disadvantages of surgical techniques for increasing bone volume.

Our Smart Short implants are designed only for those cases where the dentist is faced with the choice to leave a section of the edentulous jaw without an implant at all or to install at least a short implant as an additional support unit with one or few other conventional implants for the prosthetic restoration. These implants have unique design with just 5 mm intra-bony lengths and 1.5 mm remaining part of the implant in the gingiva. Diameter of Smart Short implants 4.2 – 5.0 – 6.0 – 7.0 mm.

Prosthetic platform as in all IQ Implants is regular 3.75 mm. This makes it possible to use the entire wide range of prosthetic elements offered by the IQ Implants company. You should not keep any special accessories for this line of short implants only.
