John Saccaro Bay Area Abstract Expressionist
Sam Francis Hans Hoffman
Price: $4,850.00

|
For your considerations is this exquisite abstract painting by John Saccaro. This is among Saccaro's last paintings done in the 1970's... In dialogue with Sam Francis and Hans Hoffman.
John Saccaro Untitled Size: 17" X 20" Signed: Verso Date: Circa 1977 Condition: Very Good. Provenance: Estate of John Saccaro Framed in gold leaf frame.
The painting is vibrant and fresh, and the photo does not do this painting justice, as it is lighter and brighter than it appears. You must experience it on your wall in natural daylight! Which is the way it was meant to be seen.
John Saccaro is an important abstract expressionist painter of the 1950's best known for his powerful "action painting". He was one of the leading artists of the San Francisco Bay Area abstract expressionist movement in the 1950's.
In recent years the bay are painters are becoming acknowledged by the art community, as equal to the "New York School" (which included Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, Willem DeKooning, Robert Motherwell, etc.) What this means in economic terms is the "valuation gap" is closing. Prices of San Francisco Bay Area abstract expressionist paintings are quickly catching up to their New York peer group. The price gap is about 10X. For example a top Richard Diebenkorn painting sells for $5,000,000 while a decent Jackson Pollock or Mark Rothko painting will be about $50 million.
It is very rare to find good John Saccaro's paintings on the market. They are becoming increasingly rare. Good paintings are selling for $10-35K at auction, and up to $350,000 for his best work, at dealers. The prices for good Saccaro paintings has increased by 800%-1000% since the mid 1990's. Paintings that sold for $1,000 a few years ago are selling for $10,000+ today. (Please don't be misled by some crappy Saccaro's, in bad condition you occasionally see selling at auction for $1,000).
I (and experts who are way smarter than me) believe prices for high quality John Saccaro paintings are still deeply undervalued compared to the NY painters, and will increase dramatically in price over next 10-15 years. Find a good Saccaro hang it up on your wall, and watch your investment grow another 500%-1000% over the next decade. This merely represents my personal highly-biased opinion and is not to be construed as investment advice!! Just do the research and decide for yourself.
