Betty Boop Collection
3-DVD Collection
Betty Boop made her first appearance on August 9, 1930 in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes, which is included in this collection. Betty Boop is known as the first and one of the most famous sex symbols on the animated screen and an american icon.
Betty Boop`s best appearances are considered to be in the first three years due to her "Jazz Baby" character and innocent sexuality, which was aimed at adults. However, the content of her films was affected by the National Legion of Decency and the Production Code of 1933. The Production Code guidelines imposed on the Motion Picture Industry placed specific restrictions on the content films with references to sexual innuendo. This greatly affected the content of the Betty Boop cartoons until the end of the series. This 29 cartoons in this collection are mainly from these earlier more risque years.
Some of these cartoons were banned at one point in their career, they are not banned now, but they are still extremely taboo due to thier insensitive racial content. You would never see these aired by a major TV network.
Truly a great collection for any Betty Boop fan, this set has some of the most conroversial, jazzy, and hilarious Betty cartoons that were ever made.
Here is one of the cartoons included, a jazzy short featuring Cab Calloway and his orchestra, this is: Minnie the Moocher.

Politically Incorrect, Banned and Taboo Cartoons
4-DVD Collection

I feel the need for a bit of a disclaimer on this one. In the 1930s and 40s society was far from having the level of equality which is present today, and the media`s portrayal of different races reflected this. All cartoons in this collection share this theme of insensitivity. They portray African people as cannibals, feature Bugs Bunny in full blackface and have a general minstrel show feel. However, at the core, these cartoons have no malicious intent and are simply lighthearted shorts meant to entertain. Racial inequality is part of American and world history, these cartoons provide an interesting look at this topic while also being hilarious. Everyone can enjoy these cartoons, but a grain of salt is definitely in order.
Here is one of the cartoons included in this collection: Jungle Jitters.

A great DVD containing 5 early cold war propaganda cartoons. Each of these cartoons are educational in nature but are all very amusing especially when looked at in historical context. Made right at the begining of the cold-war these propaganda films touted the merits of capitalism more then they denounced comunism. ![]() | A Coach for Cinderella (1936)Imaginative cartoon that breaks down the parts and features of a Chevrolet automobile into units that can be understood in terms of plant and animal life: caterpillars roll into circles and become automobile tires; in the "visible V-6" fireflies equal spark plugs and mice provide motive power. Naturally, tells part of the Cinderella story, too. Animation supervisor thought to be Frank Goldman. |
