Vintage Orpheum #1 arch-top Irish Tenor banjo with 12" head

One of my favorite banjos to play.  It has a nice crisp sound and is easy to play.   The 12" head is in excellent condition.   There is a hairline crack on one-half of the neck heel, however, as this is a two piece neck, there is little to worry about.  The neck set and attachment are fine. All of the original inlays are sound and well done.  I replaced the bridge and strings. I also replaced the original friction tuners with new planetary tuners. All of the chrome parts have been cleaned and polished. The j-hooks and lugs are heavy duty, as is the tension hoop.  The unit has minor dings here and there which would be normal for an instrument of it's age.  There is minimal wear on the frets and the fret-board is in good repair.  I am selling this vintage item as a used instrument with no returns.   This banjo will ship with a used original case in fair-poor condition  and will ship double boxed with plenty of padding.

A quick word about our store:
I have been buying, fixing and selling guitars, banjos and mandolins on E-Bay for over 10 years.  I have a complete repair shop which is part of my retail shop "Hot Strings Guitar Shop" in Milford, CT.  A member of the Guild of American Luthiers, I also produce and sell DVDs on various aspects of guitar and banjo building and repairs. I have produced over 18 DVDs the are sold on E-Bay, Amazon dot com and by Elderly Instruments. Additionally I run a guitar building school with both day and night classes. Well aware of the frightful possibilities that crop up when purchasing a used instrument on-line, I strive to make sure any claims I may make about the instruments I sell are true and accurate. (I have bought more turkeys on e-bay than Carter has little liver pills) You can also visit my other E-Bay store, Hot Strings Guitar, and see the DVDs I produce.

Return policy
All of the used instruments, whether on consignment or owned by my store, are sold "as is" with no returns or implied warrantee.  Instruments are cleaned, inspected and adjusted prior to leaving my shop.  Any visible problems are noted in the listing.  In the case if electric guitars, the instrument is checked plugged into an amp but we do not go into the wiring to look for problems nor do I imply a warrantee for internal wiring.  All instruments are shipped with strings loosened for safety and in some cases, necks can relax during shipment with the tension of the strings.  Subsequent retuning upon arrival can result in some buzzing on the frets until the neck takes a new set with tension applied.  Because of differences in humidity and changes during shipping, I do not warrantee "set-up" in regards to string height and buzzing.  If an item is damaged  during shipping, the process of insurance must be followed through and the buyer must contact immediately upon finding shipping damage. Any damaged item during shipment must be made available for the shipping company to inspect at the buyers location.

Vintage Instruments
Any instrument that is marked "Vintage" will have no warrantee for glue seams opening after delivery, as a vintage instrument can be between 40 and 100 years in age and glue that old will eventually fail from stress and heat. All items marked "Vintage" have no warrantee for intonation, as the fret placement of instruments made prior to the 60's and earlier have a good possibility of being installed in the wrong position during manufacture. (Yes, even early Martins can be off)  All "Vintage" items are sold as antiques with no implied performance warrantee.

Consignment Items
All items marked "consignment" are not owned by my shop and  have no implied warrantee what-so-ever and, other than damage the may have occurred during shipment, I do not accept returns.
