For years we have heard from our competition bbq and dutch oven cookers about how they were tired of cheap made charcoal chimneys that lasted only one season. There are numerous models on the market, but all were made in China of inferior steel, and rivets that broke.
Finally, there is a charcoal chimney for the serious outdoor cook. Mad Cow Cutlery is proud to distribute what we consider as one of the highest quality, and longest lasting chimneys on the market. These chimneys were designed and are manufactured in the US by a small shop that takes great pride in producing a product that is as durable as any piece of commercial food service or meat processing equipment.
The Chimney
The Competition Charcoal Chimney is a chimney like no other on the market. Every idea has been engineered, computer modeled, and prototyped. Every detail has been tested in the field under the most demanding situations of extreme heat, heavy loads, and abusive use administered at the hands of those that live to bbq or cook outdoors.
Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel - From the minute you pick it up you know it is 100% American Steel.
Two Handles - Hand crafted wood wraps the pair of stainless handles. Two bolts hold each of the handles in place.
Welded Body - No rivets to pop out after a few months.
Drop Out Bottom - The most unique feature is the drop out bottom. Never deal with trying to dump out a chimney full of hot coals. Create contained piles easily where you need them. A trap door mechanism lets you place the chimney where it needs to be and then deposit the coals by pulling a trigger.
The Design
The Competition Charcoal Chimney was engineered from the ground up. It was completely 3D modeled using advanced engineering software. All moving parts were precisely designed to fit together flawlessly. Multiple rounds of prototype builds were manufactured and tested before the final production units were ready.
Two Solid Steel Handles - Being able to hold and control a chimney full of hot coals was critical in the design. Handles on these units were designed to handle heavy loads and provide a confident and comfortable grip.
Bolted On Handle - The body and handle attachment are bolted together using stainless steel hardware. During testing it was found that this method was far superior to welds and rivets.
Thermal Chokes - To keep the handle assembly as cool as possible, choke points were designed to keep the heat transfer to a minimum.
Sliding Yoke Controlled Trigger Mechanism - Failure of the trap door was not an option. A sliding trigger allows the unit to hold a full load of charcoal with no chance of door opening until the trigger is pulled. The yoke was used to ensure smooth operation as well as reduce heat transfer by having minimal metal to metal contact.
