2) THE PECORONE OF GIOVANNI!!
The Pecorone (c. 1378) is a collection of tales which are supposed to have been related by a monk and a nun in the parlour of a monastery.
Fiorentino closely imitated Boccaccio, and drew on Villani's chronicle for his historical stories.
In order to let some sparkling ray of refreshing light and consolation upon him who may be in that mood, which in times gone by has weighed on me, I am moved by charitable and loving zeal to make beginning of this book of mine, in which we will treat you of a young man, Brother Auretto, and a maid, Sister Saturnia, who - as you will understand in reading this narrative - were most fervently enamoured of one another. . . - Proem (preface).

VERY GOOD, Near MINT condition. All hinges are very fresh and fully attached. Very clean fresh and bright, appears free of any trace of foxing, some light signs of wear/rubs. No writing. This is a gorgeous collection!
