William Makepeace Thackeray. The Newcomes. Memoirs of a most respectable family. Edited by Arthur Pendennis.

FIRST EDITION / FIRST PRINTING.

Printed in 1854, and 1855, respectively.

With illustrations on steel and wood by Richard Doyle.

Complete in two volumes. Bradbury and Evans, London, 1854-1855. FIRST EDITION. True first edition in period leather binding, bound from the parts. Hinges sound with no starting. VERY GOOD CONDITION. Some foxing. No previous owner's names. 8 3/4 inches.

This is a very nice copy of the first edition of a major nineteenth century novel.

During his long and distinguished career he was so widely-read that he was second only to Charles Dickens in popularity. An excellent artist and caricaturist, he often illustrated his own works. This would be an important addition to any collection.

This would make an excellent gift and/or addition to any collection.
