1986 John Deere Limited Edition Buckle:
It takes a very important event for any company to redesign its trademark ... a corporate restructure, a consolidation, or a shift in products. Any of these actions can hasten such a vital change.
In 1956, after being considered primarily a farm equipment manufacturer for 119 years, John Deere made a bold move - establishing a new industrial division. Today, this major group contributes measurably to John Deere's success.
This corporate change prompted the immediate redesign of the John Deere trademark. No longer was there refer-
ence to farm equipment. The design simply combined the familiar, fourlegged leaping deer with the words, JOHN DEERE, and set them in an attractive oval. The new design reflected the growing modernization of the John Deere organization.
The 1956 trademark limited edition buckle comrnemorates this event. As the last of the four John Deere trademark series of buckles, it, too, is triple-plated with 24 carat gold, antiqued and hand polished for lasting beauty. Only 6000 buckles were manufactured. Thus, yours is an exclusive treasure pursued by collectors everywhere.
