Here is an original Detroit-built fire hydrant to go with your Detroit-built automobile. This used hydrant has a casting date of 1924. Manufactured by the Michigan Valve & Foundry Co. Detroit, Michigan. The top is marked Detroit DFD Standard. Ground level measurement is 30-1/2" high. Overall height is approx. 42". There is enough stem to allow the hydrant to be cemented in the ground. Measures approx. 14-1/2" across at the widest point. The hydrant bottom is about 7-3/4" OD. There are 2 4-1/2" nozzles.
NOTE: There is a crack on the back side of the hydrant near the casting date at the bottom. I did not repair it because I did not want it to appear that I was trying to hide it. This can be easily fixed by using a paintable caulk and touch-up paint.
