Here is an original Detroit-built fire hydrant to go with your Detroit-built automobile. This used hydrant has a casting date of 1924. Manufactured by the Michigan Valve & Foundry Co. Detroit, Michigan. The top is marked Detroit DFD Standard. Ground level measurement is 30-1/2" high. Overall height is 44". Measures approx. 12" across at the widest point. The hydrant bottom is about 7-3/4" OD. There are 2 4-1/2" nozzles. On the back of the barrel opposite the nozzles is a threaded fitting that used to connect to a copper tube that was routed down near the main valve. This feature allowed the hydrant to be pumped dry.
