I remember as a child,we have a family friend who came for visit and the first thing he did is to go find our spittoon and placed it right by his chair.
Spittoons back then is not just for spitting, but also used as urine disposal for small kids, and occasionally used as ashtray.
As time past, spittoon losts its place in society, then resurfaced as decorative items for flower arrangement, nostalgia or just plain fun to have, especially if you are a fan of Andy Warhol, did he ever paint a spittoon OR just Marilyn Monroe and Campbell soup can?Well,he missed a good thing, spittoon are more fun to paint and makes a good conversation piece!
Anyway, who would think venerable American company like Tiffany & Co would seize the moment and made a sterling silver 925 spittoon?
We are proud to present a cultural icon -a sterling silver spittoon, measures 5 1/2 inches tall,8 inches wide with a 3 7/8 inch base.
Condition very good, some scratch marks but no pitting or dings, monogrammed JWR,wonder who this lucky chap is??
It weighs 30.005 troy ounces and as you all know,Tiffany sterling silver is of a higher calibre than other sterling silver makers,it hardly tarnish if you take care of them,if you want to display it,get some silverwipes from Walmart and wipe it every now and then.
It would make a great gift for someone you want to impress ,I understand gift giving is popular in China,so for all you Chinese shoppers, dont miss this rare piece,I have never seen one made by Tiffany.
On the bottom it said 'TIFFANY & CO Maker, sterling silver 25195.
