Genuine japanese woodblock print by Chikanobu Toyohara, 3 oban triptych (70.9x 35.5cm),impression and colors very good, condition soiled with Meiji album backing. Titled 'Chiypda no-no omote mokuroku, which translates to events of Prince Tokugawa outside the Chiyoda castle. Scene of WILD BOAR hunt. High level clan members coming home triumphantly with their prize-wild boars strapped and tied to poles carried by underlings,I see two, probably more not shown in the prints, see all the high honchos with banners ,riding on majectic horses ,they all carry their set of samurai swords, one is also an archer so he has bows and arrow as well, the archer seems to have a piece of wild boar sking draped over his horse?? Colorful costumes, majestic horses brown and white strutting ,you see the wild boars on the right of the triptych, artist seal and signature to the left/ Condition is not as good as the other triptychs of the same series,we are discounting this print for reason that although it is backed and color and impression both good, there are stains but no pin holes I can see, overrall a nice print for the money. Dated Meiji 30th year which takes us to 1898,a nice piece of antique
.
Please seee my other Japanese items-netsukes,tsubas,paper weights, scroll weights, can opener ,incense burners ,wind chimes etc.
