These gorgeous blue/green doublet lots are made from Australian opal from Mintabie, with a boulder stone backing.  Opal has always been my favorite gem on the planet.  It’s by far the most beautiful of all stones.  The play and multidimensional depth of its colors are not seen in any other gemstone. Its rich rainbow colors have been in my life since I was born as my father was a miner and prospector of opal.( He still is obsessed with it after 40 years).  You will never see two opals the same and the rich vibrant colors will keep you addicted to this amazing stone.  These ship from our home/studio in Bali where we are working with the local artisans to make an array of opal, stones, jewellery and crafts.  For sizing the boxes each represent 5mm or a ½ cm. Refractive index is around 1.450 but can go as low as 1.42 depending on the type of Opal.  The specific gravity is 2.15 and the hardness is soft, being a 5.
