Dinosaur Bone takes a high polish and has a hardness of 7, which makes it very wearable.

Fossilization usually occurred when a dinosaur died and was buried or covered over by a sediment of rock particles. Bones and teeth of the dinosaurs must undergo some form of mineralization to become fossils. The organic matter comprising the bones and teeth usually decays and is replaced by minerals such as silica, calcite, carbonates and iron. The cell structure of the bone is usually visible. This shows up as a honeycomb of holes.

Opal has always been my favorite gem on the planet.  It’s by far the most beautiful of all stones.  The play and multidimensional depth of its colors are not seen in any other gemstone. Opal is notoriously hard to photograph, sometimes it looks better in the picture sometimes in person. We try to capture a favorable angle, but we never enhance or color correct our photos. All photos are taken in natural light to enhance the opal colors. So be sure to look in the sun to bring out the colors in your opal.
