Metaphysical and Healing Properties:

Lapis has been highly valued for many thousands of years. The most famous locality for fine quality lapis lazuli is in the same ancient deposit high in the mountains of Afghanistan where it was originally mined at least 6000 years ago. 

It was said to impart ancient knowledge, and the wisdom to use it and to enhance one's awareness, insight and intellect.

Ground lapis was the secret of the blue in ultramarine, the pigment which painters used to paint the sea and the sky until the nineteenth century.  Which means that all of the beautiful blues in paintings from the Renaissance are thanks to the blue of lapis lazuli; the blue rock loved by the ancients, from Mesopotamia, to Egypt, to Persia, to Greece and Rome. The ancient city of Ur has had a thriving trade in lapis as early as the fourth millennium B.C. The name is international, from the Latin, lapis, which means stone, and from the Arabic, aula, which means blue. When lapis was first introduced to Europe, it was called ultramarinum, which means beyond the sea.

Opal: is a stone of inspiration which enhances imagination and creativity. It helps one release inhibitions and enhances memory. Opal is also a very spiritual stone, and can help one be "invisible" in situations where they don't care to be noticed. It is said to be a stone for love, as well. Opal brings happy dreams. It also eases the process of change. Physically, opal is said to be helpful for eyesight and Parkinson's disease.

Opal has always been my favorite gem on the planet.  It’s by far the most beautiful of all stones.  The play and multidimensional depth of its colors are not seen in any other gemstone. Its rich rainbow colors have been in my life since I was born as my father was a miner and prospector of opal.( He still is obsessed with it after 40 years).  You will never see two opals the same and the rich vibrant colors will keep you addicted to this amazing stone.  These ship from our home/studio in Bali where we are working with the local artisans to make an array of opal, stones, jewellery and crafts.  Please check out our other handmade items.

Opal is notoriously hard to photograph, sometimes it looks better in the picture sometimes in person. We try to capture a favorable angle, but we never enhance or color correct our photos.
