In 1975, the Cleveland Indians signed soon-to-be Hall of Fame outfielder Frank Robinson to be the first African-American manager in the major leagues.  Sadly, this was nearly three years after the death of Jackie Robinson - who did not live to see an event he had been championing for years.

On a frigid Opening Day, Robinson put himself in the lineup as Designated Hitter, and in a storybook finish launched the game-winning home run.

Robinson is the only player to be named MVP in the American League and National League.

He led the Baltimore Orioles to the 1966 and 1970 pennant and World Series championship, and also won a pennant with the Cincinnati Reds.

He also played with the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels and Indians.  He also managed the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos / Washington Nationals.

This is a signed newspaper clipping detailing his hiring by the Tribe.  It marked a historical event and his signature on the piece makes this a collectible treasure.
